The “Refugee Emergency Fund” or REF, is a programme in which funding assistance is offered for emergency situations faced by the wider refugee community, the majority being for medical expenses (comprising ad-hoc cases such as accidents and deliveries, and long-term ones such as cancer and diabetes) and problems with rent. 

 

AHS provides the fundraising platform, case and account management as well as the fund distribution coordination for REF. Nearly RM1 Million has been distributed for refugee emergency needs over the two years, i.e. RM276.2k from Jun-Dec 2020 and RM702.7k between Jan-Oct 2021. The bulk of the funds for this purpose are collected via public fundraising.
