Al-Ikhlas Hope Society is raising funds to support Al-Ikhlas School, a UNHCR-registered kindergarten and primary learning centre for Rohingya and Myanmar refugee children in Taman Sri Murni, Batu Caves. The school also serves as a vital community hub, offering access to food aid, health workshops, mobile clinics, and more. With over 150 students now enrolled, we’ve expanded to a third unit and hired additional teachers, many of whom are from the refugee community. We're seeking RM70 per child per month (RM840/year) to help cover 70% of each child’s education costs. Donations will directly support rent, salaries, utilities, and school maintenance. Your support helps sustain education and hope for a vulnerable community.
Sponsor Meals for the School

Launched in June 2022, this programme addresses two key needs at Al-Ikhlas School: supporting struggling single mothers and providing nutritious meals for students. Many single mums in the community, like “S,” work hard doing low-paid, labor-intensive jobs from home to care for their children. At the same time, many students come to school hungry, affecting their ability to learn. To tackle both issues, we began inviting single mums to cook weekly meals for the school, giving them income while ensuring children get at least one healthy meal a week. To sustain this effort, we aim to raise RM2,000 per month—80% goes to the mums and food costs, with the rest covering programme management.

At Al-Ikhlas School, we believe in nurturing not just minds, but hearts and bodies too. Our extra-curricular activities give refugee children much-needed space to play, explore, and simply be kids. Teen girls enjoy weekly netball sessions led by volunteers from the Bar Council’s Sports Club, while teen boys attend football training run by a Rohingya youth leader. Beyond sports, we also organise field trips, cooking classes, and creative workshops whenever possible. Living in cramped flats and attending school in shoplots, these children rarely get access to outdoor spaces or recreational outlets. These activities support their mental health, build confidence, and bring joy into lives too often shaped by hardship.

Refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants & stateless individuals in Malaysia face an overwhelming barrier when they need access to much needed medical treatments, and this is mainly due to financial constraints as many of them cannot afford even a basic medical check-up. REF have supported and continue to support all types of medical emergencies. Your donation will go a long way in saving their lives, literally!

In Malaysia, refugee families are struggling to find safe, stable housing. Without the legal right to work, many can’t afford rent and live in constant fear of eviction. We’re seeing more and more cases in need of support — and we can’t do it without you.
